Golf Trip & Bachelor Party Games: How to Plan the Ultimate Golf Weekend

A golf trip or a golf-themed bachelor party lives or dies on the little moments: the side bets, the trash talk, the story everyone is still telling a year later. Here's a simple plan for adding games to the weekend without slowing down the golf.

Before the trip: set up the competition

  • Pick your formats in advance. Decide which rounds are "serious" and which are for fun. Most groups keep one round straight and make the rest more social.
  • Agree on a forfeit. Every good competition needs a loser's punishment. Keep it harmless and funny.
  • Print a scorecard. A shared scorecard for the whole weekend makes every hole count towards an overall winner.

Day 1 on the course: The Boozy Round

For the first round, use The Boozy Round from Cup Golf. Everyone plays their normal game, but each player has one Cup Golf cup and one nomination for the whole round. Pull it out on any hole to make another player take the Cup Golf challenge. Where their drink finishes on the cup is added as penalty strokes: Hole-in-One +1, Birdie +2, Par +3, Bogey +4, and anything out of the lines is +5.

It's perfect for a bachelor party because the groom will absolutely get nominated on his best hole of the day.

Day 2 on the course: On The Course

For the second round, step it up with the On The Course rules. Choose which holes include Cup Golf (the last hole always does). At the end of each selected hole, everyone takes a Cup Golf shot and adds that score to their golf score. Lowest combined total wins; the loser takes on the #CupGolfChallenge.

Nights: For the Party

Back at the rental or the pub, the For the Party rules keep the competition going without clubs. Play 1, 3, 6 or 9 "holes", keep score, and crown the weekend champion. A Cup Golf 4 Pack covers a foursome; bigger groups can grab two and run a team competition.

Tips for a smooth weekend

  • Check your course's rules on outside drinks and keep pace of play moving.
  • Nominate a designated driver for every day, golf carts included where local laws apply.
  • Have water and non-alcoholic options; Cup Golf works with any drink.
  • Film the big moments and tag them #CupGolfChallenge.

Cup Golf is for adults of legal drinking age. See all three ways to play on the How to Play page.
